Karnala Trek
This was one of my dream trek. Eversince I was in my college, I used to think what would be the view from that thumb shaped mountain top. My train used to go from Panvel-Pen track (Konkan Track). So this weekend I decided to go there.
So, I and my wife Divya woke up at 5:00 AM, got ready and left Koper Khairane (Navi Mumbai), on our Honda Activa, at around 5:45 AM. Reached Karnala Bird santuary at around 6:45 AM. The notic said that the santuary opens at 7:00. So we had tea, which we had taken with us, and waited for the ticket counter to open. The guy came at sharp 7:00 AM. He told us that we could have came inside as their quarters were inside. We paid Rs 15/- for the two wheeler and Rs 20/- each for 2 adults. We took our scooter inside, as it was allowed ( cars were not allowed ).
As soon as we entered my wife spotted a Giant Wood Spider , then ek another and another. As we proceeded, we could spot around 20-25 spiders. Man I was in heaven :) . Then there were some animals in cages : Peacock, Duck, Turtle. Then we started the actual trek at round 8:00 AM. The climate was cool but humid.
We reached at the top at around 10:00 AM, taking enough breaks for photography and breath. We sat there till 1:00 PM, eat some fruits and realxed in the shade of the half broken doors of the fort.
Then we started our decend. We came till half the trek and got lost. Both were afraid, we tried different routes but all of them seemed to be dead-ends. Then we found a waterfall. We went down with it and finally reached the base.
I should say that it felt like a "Man vs Wild" episode :). If we had not seen Bear Grylls always following running water to get to a river, we would not have got out of there.
